What Is The Definition Of Roughing In Hockey?
1. This is a penalty in ice hockey when a player makes contact with an opponent with their hand or fist when making a punching motion. The punching motion can be with or without the glove on the player’s hand and is usually directed at the head or face of the opponent. A goalie can be called for roughing if they use their equipment to try to punch an opponent.
Roughing after the whistle can also be called when two opposing players push and/or shove each other after the whistle has been blown.
