roll out
What Is The Definition Of Roll Out In Football?
1. A roll out is a term used in football to describe when the quarterback moves out of the pocket to attempt a pass. The quarterback may roll out of the pocket intentionally, on a designed play or will move out of the pocket due to pressure from the defense. By rolling out of the pocket, the quarterback is generally able to gain more time to read the defense and to give his receivers more time to get open. However, by rolling out the quarterback increases his chances of getting sacked or tackled as he is moving away from his offensive line.
