push bunt
What Is The Definition Of Push Bunt In Baseball?
1. A push bunt is when a player bunts the ball, but tries to “push” the ball past the pitcher and/or a charging infielder. The purpose of doing this is to make the infielders (most likely the middle infielders) field the ball, but by the time they get to the ball the runner is able to make it to first safely.
Similar to a drag bunt, a batter uses a push bunt to try to get a base hit, instead of a sacrifice.
Example Of How Push Bunt Is Used In Commentary
