What Is The Definition Of Outfielder In Baseball?
1. An outfielder is a player who is positioned at one of the three outfield positions. The outfielders are the right fielder, left fielder and center fielder. These three players are the three furthest position players from the batter and they are tasked with covering their respective areas in the outfield.
Although each of the outfield positions are important in their own right, the center fielder tends to be the most athletic and quickest as they must cover the most territory in the outfield. It is also to note that the right fielder will tend to have the strongest or one of the strongest arms among the outfielders in order to make the long throw to third base if need be.
