out turn
What Is The Definition Of Out-Turn In Curling?
1. The out-turn in curling is exact opposite of the in-turn. When a thrower releases the handle of a stone, it then rotates away from the body, or the elbow is rotated “out” and away from the body.
For example, for a right-handed thrower, the out-turn movement is counter-clockwise or they move their arm or wrist towards the right. For a left-handed thrower, the movement is clockwise or they move their arm or wrist towards the left.
Examples Of How Out-Turn Is Used In Commentary
1. Smith releases the stone with a bit of an out-turn, allowing it to curve around a stone and just make it across the hog-line.
