Definition Of Lip
1. The lip in bobsledding refers to a safety border at the top edge of a bobsled’s track that keeps the bobsled from flying off the track.
The lip is usually a wooden or metal barrier that is covered with several inches of ice. If a bobsled hits the lip, it will bounce off and go back in towards the middle of the track, preventing it from going off the track.
