What Is The Definition Of Hazer In Rodeo?
In rodeo, a hazer is the second mounted rider who assists in keeping the calf in a place where the primary rider can rope it.
When the event begins, both cowboys will attempt to chase down the steer in the arena, the primary rider is the steer wrestler, and the hazer is in charge of keeping the steer in position to a place where it’s easy for the first rider to dismount and do his job.
The hazer carries a big responsibility, and many times their role goes unnoticed unless they do their job wrong. Often, the hazer can be the difference between a good run and a bad one.
