What Is The Definition Of Free Throw Lane?
1. This is an area on the basketball court that is underneath the backboard and extends from the end line to the free throw line. Also commonly referred to as “the lane”, the free throw lane is most often painted a different color than the rest of the court to help make it stand out for referees. The dimensions of the lane on an NBA regulation sized court is 19 feet tall by 16 feet wide. On a college court, the width is changed to 12 feet wide.
When a player is taking their free throws, the select other players must stand in the designated areas on the sides of the free throw lane.
