What Is The Definition Of Cranker In Bowling?
1. A cranker is a term used in bowling to describe a bowler who is able to put more than average spin on the ball in order to get it to hook and curve more down the lane. The more revolutions a bowler can put on the ball, the more it’s able to curve through the pins, which increases the chances of a strike. Cranker bowlers are also known as power bowlers.
Cranker bowlers are sometimes less accurate than other forms of bowling, since they sacrifice some of that accuracy in exchange for more power, leverage and the ability to generate the maximum amount revolutions.
