What Is The Definition Of Choke Up In Baseball?
1. To choke up on the bat is an adjustment that a hitter will make by sliding their hands up on the bat, away from the bottom knob, in order to gain more control over the bat and to increase bat speed. Batters will tend to choke up on the bat when they have two strikes against them in order to protect against a strikeout and to at least put the ball into play.
