What Is The Definition Of Check The Runner In Baseball?
1. This is a term used to describe when a fielder or a pitcher looks at a baserunner before delivering a throw to help prevent them from taking too large of a lead and potentially from advancing a base.

A pitcher will check the runner by looking towards the baserunner before coming to the set position, usually when the baserunner is on first base.
