bi*cy*cle kick
What Is The Definition Of A Bicycle Kick In Soccer?
This is a type of volley which involves a player kicking a ball in a backward motion over his or her head. Typically, the player jumps off the ground to some degree to get enough air and momentum for the kick. Then, while both feet are off the ground, the legs are bent and moved in a pedaling motion (like on a bicycle) to turn his or her body into a horizontal position. Finally, one leg is kicked up and back in the direction of the player’s head, sending the ball behind them. It is similar to, but not the same as, a scissor kick. Players must be careful when performing a bicycle kick; the play can be considered dangerous and a foul may be given.
