What Is The Definition Of Backup Ball In Bowling?
1. A backup ball in bowling refers to when the bowling ball curves in the opposite direction than a normal roll, or hook. For example, a right-handed bowler’s ball would normally roll from right-to-left, but instead their backup ball would roll left-to-right. The backup ball for a left-handed bowler is from right-to-left.
A bowler achieves the backup ball roll by rotating their wrist counter-clockwise when releasing the ball.
