Vince Young probably doesn’t like Johnny Manziel right now.
Young, who was signed by the Cleveland Browns on May 1, got released on Monday just days after the Browns selected Johnny Manziel in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Just when Young thought he was going to be given a chance in the quarterback desperate city of Cleveland, the team goes ahead and drafts the most talked about quarterback in recent years. Heck, I couldn’t even find a picture of Young in a Browns jersey from my photo provider. That’s how short of a stint he was with the Browns. I had no idea he played for the Packers during the preseason last year.
In a way, I would have liked to have seen the Browns keep Young in camp to compete with Manziel. The two actually do have a lot in common athletically, so it would have been nice to watch. Both quarterbacks are great on the run, have good arms and they’re even both from the Great State of Texas. Besides Young’s obvious size advantage, the two are pretty similar quarterbacks.
The Browns might have had to do something a little more out-of-the-box if they had the two compete. Hmm, let’s think.
I got it. A spelling test.
Actually, scratch that. I forgot how good Johnny boy did on the Wonderlic and… well… how bad Vince did on his test back in 2006.
Yeah, the Browns probably made the smart choice on this one.
Hey, Vince! Maybe you can go back down to Houston and see if they’re interested? Maybe even give them a hometown discount?
Maybe?
