Deshaun Watson’s humble beginnings are well-documented.
So when he was becoming a star quarterback during his time at Clemson, it was only a matter of time before his fortune would change.
In 2017, the Houston Texas took Watson with the 12th pick where he would eventually sign a four-year, $13.8 million contract. Guaranteed.
While speaking recently with The Boardroom, Watson recalls his excitement of receiving his first NFL check. While at the team rookie hotel, he was told the check would be deposited at 2:00 am. Despite having to wake up at 6:00 am that morning, he set his alarm for 2:01 and saw the moment he became a millionaire.
Watson has quickly become one of the NFL’s elite, so it’s safe to say that he’ll be compensated handsomely with his second contract. He could easily demand upwards of $45 million in a single season if he keeps up this level of play.
To see Watson’s reaction, see the clip below from The Boardroom.
