For the second time in four years, the University of Connecticut Huskies men’s basketball team are national champions.
In a game full of excitement and dramatic shots, the Huskies were able to hold off the Kentucky Wildcats 60-54 to capture their school’s fourth men’s national championship. All four have come aft
This game did not disappoint. Just as you thought the Huskies would pull away after several double digit leads, they’d let the Wildcats right back into it.
The Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player, senior Shabazz Napier, led the UConn Huskies and all scorers with 22 points. Despite a few mental mistakes, Napier made up with it with his long range bombs that helped hold off the Wildcats.
The Huskies become the first number seven seed team to win the national championship, but this wasn’t the only first of the night.
Despite this being the second title in four years for the Huskies, it was the first national championship as a head coach for Kevin Ollie, who this year made his first appearance in the tournament as a head coach.
Congratulations to the UConn Huskies. What a crazy tournament it was.
I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
