Allen Iverson has made his way into the news the past two days. And no, it’s not for the wrong reasons.
Iverson put together one of the best careers in the NBA with his play on the court and his talk off it. It’s no surprise that he spoke up about some things during his time in Manila, Philippines. And no, he’s not there playing basketball for some extra cash.
He’s there coaching.
And just so that you don’t freak out and wonder how this guy is a basketball coach, he’s there for the “All In” celebrity basketball game where he’s one of the coaches pacing the sideline. Iverson even joked that he could never be a real coach because they would, “never practice.” Get it? Cause of his practice rant? GET IT!? Nevermind.
Anyways, one question Iverson answered was about who his all-time top 5 NBA team would be. Surprisingly, the over confident Iverson didn’t put himself on the list, because he and Michael Jordan would be up for the same roster spot and he respectfully knows that he can’t compete with MJ. Here’s AI’s top five:
- Magic Johnson
- Michael Jordan
- LeBron James
- Charles Barkley
- Shaquille O’Neal
And if you were curious, Larry Bird would be his Sixth Man.
And to build on the topic of his respect for Jordan, watch and listen to how Iverson describes his first encounter with Jordan and how he felt about his famous crossover on Jordan that will forever be one of his greatest moments on the court.
