Remember years ago when New York Mets third baseman David Wright made millions when Vitamin Water sold to Coca Cola and everyone was shocked?
That’s the same feeling going around now with LeBron James and the Beats by Dre sale.
According to Business Insider, LeBron James made over $30 million when Beats by Dre sold to Apple for $3 billion. Like Wright, James took a small stake in ownership with the company and helped to endorse and work with Dr. Dre and others to make and market this popular product. Talk about making a smart business move.
With the latest talk about Carmelo Anthony potentially joining the Heat next season, maybe LeBron will return to South Beach with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, and take a small pay-cut so that Melo can get a decent contract? Not likely.
Or maybe he’ll walk to his own beat, leave Miami and sign another mega-contract somewhere else since he already has his rings.
Get it? Walk to his own beat. Get it? Because of his involvement with Beats by Dre. Get it? I crack myself up.
