Kevin Love wouldn’t mind going home.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers sitting at the bottom of the NBA standings at 5-18, Love and the Cavaliers could be looking for an amicable parting of ways. Despite Love saying in the past that he wants to stay in Cleveland, rumors are circulating that he wouldn’t mind going home to Portland.
Love, who grew up in nearby Lake Oswego and helped Lake Oswego High School to a state championship, could help turnaround the 9-15 Trail Blazers. Although he’s 31 and far from being one of the NBA’s elite, he is still a solid rebounder and defender. Portland, who has been at the mercy of injuries this season, could use the 6’8″ power forward to fill in the holes, especially after Rodney Hood was lost for the year with a ruptured Achilles tendon.
However, Love is in the first year of a $120.4 million contract, and the Blazers would need to make space for his contract. Something they can do with the expiring contracts of Hassan Whiteside and Kent Bazemore.
Love is averaging 15.6 points and 10.5 rebounds a game. The NBA trade deadline is February 7, 2020 at 12:30 AM.
