Today was Kevin Durant’s day.

Not only did the NBA superstar win his first NBA MVP Award after finishing second the past few years to LeBron James, he also was chosen to be on the cover the latest edition of NBA2K15. Since Durant has yet to win a championship, this has to count as the biggest highlight of his career so far.
Durant, who averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 rebounds per game this season, was very deserving of this award. He carried a team that went 59-23 during the regular season, much without its other star Russell Westbrook, but he did it with class and from what it seemed like at times with ease.
Durant has always been one of my favorite players since he’s come into the league because he plays the game the way it should be played and doesn’t trash talk or look for attention. I’m glad that he finally got to get the MVP award that I felt he should’ve had many times ago. And just by the way he gave his acceptance speech, you have to love a guy who is humble and appreciates the things he’s given and gives thanks those who have helped him along the way. I can’t remember an MVP giving such an emotional speech like he did today.
