The Kawhi Leonard sweepstakes has gotten a little more interesting.
With the Los Angeles Lakers set to acquire Anthony Davis in a trade, and also looking to move more players in the coming days to free-up cap space, it appears the Lakers are becoming serious contenders in landing the two-time Finals MVP.
Appearing on “Get Up” this morning, Stephen A. Smith reported that he has heard that the Lakers will have a good shot at landing the superstar.
"I have received the word that Kawhi Leonard is seriously considering the Los Angeles Lakers."

How much validity there is to this won’t be known until free agent meetings start taking place next week. However, it is interesting to hear it, as all along it was thought that Leonard would more likely go to the Los Angeles Clippers than the Lakers if he were to come to Southern California.
Fresh off a championship where he led Toronto to the title with a balanced team, versus one comprised of superstars, going to the Lakers doesn’t seem like a likely fit for Leonard. Instead of the go-to man on the squad, he’d have to play second-fiddle to Lebron James and perhaps even Anthony Davis at times. Although the Lakers is the more historic franchise in LA, it still seems more likely he’d go to the Clippers instead where he can help to also bring that franchise a long-awaited title.
With Sunday just a few days away, there’s a good chance we will know the answer by the end of the weekend.
