Starting next Tuesday, the Charlotte Bobcats will return back to their name of old.
Charlotte will drop the Bobcats mascot, and be called the Charlotte Hornets once again, according to the Charlotte Observer. The team had been called the Hornets since the NBA franchise was created in the city in 1988, but when the team was moved to New Orleans, so did the name. Now that New Orleans is called the Pelicans, Michael Jordan wants the franchise to have its old name back.
The name change was originally approved in 2013, but will go into affect next week.
Now that Jordan has decided to bring back something the team’s glory days of Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson, maybe he can try to bring some other things back. For example, for the first time in a long team, the team is relevant again after making the playoffs this year. With a young team, maybe they need some more veteran leadership and skill on the team to go a little further in the playoffs.
Perhaps, Jordan can bring back Grandmama?
Remember the skills that gorgeous beauty had?
