In order to tell if a basketball is the correct weight, hold the ball slightly above shoulder height and let it drop. It should bounce up to around your waist. If it bounces up to your chest, it’s too full. If it only bounces to your knees, it’s not full enough.
Another option is to use a pressure gauge and adjust the inflation of the ball until it falls between 7.5 and 8.5 psi (pounds per square inch).
